I’ve set a goal for myself to run a half marathon before year-end. To meet this goal, I’ve signed up for the West Coast Half Marathon that’s going to happen in Sarasota next week, on December 9th. I’ve been training for several months, as this is my first half marathon in three years. Each week until the race, I’ve been sharing my training objectives, as well as the results from the previous week.
This is it, the final week of training!
This journey, that I started six months ago, is coming towards its end. I’ve gone from not running any significant distance, to getting ready to run 13.1 miles in my first half-marathon in almost four years.
I’m still getting my long runs in every Sunday, running nine miles last week, but only limited workouts during the week. I’ll be prepared for the race, meeting my primary objective, but I won’t have made the progress I wanted to on my times. I’ll have to come back to this after the race.
WEEK 24 RESULTS
Sun: 11 mile run- COMPLETE. I did nine miles instead of eleven due to time constaints.
Tue: 5k run- COMPLETE.
Wed: 3 mile run or cross-training- MISSED.
Thu: 5k run- MISSED.
Sat: 60 minutes of cross training- Partially COMPLETE. I didn’t cross-train, I went out and ran a quick two-mile.
