Happy Independence Day!

Hey everybody, I hope you’re enjoying your July 4th Holiday!

I took a few days off this week to hang out with the family, and to go to a party or two.

It’s weird having the holiday in the middle of the week like this.  When it’s on a Friday or a Monday, it makes it really easy to do a three day trip.  But if you’re tight on vacation time, or even don’t get any, these middle of the week holidays can be a real challenge.

Or, maybe it’s a nice break in the middle of the week?  It’s like having an extra Friday in between two other Fridays.  You know you get to sleep in on July 4th, and then only have two days of work, before you get to do it again.

Who am I kidding.  We’re Moms.  We don’t get to sleep in anymore.  Ever.

Are you planning to watch fireworks this year?  I used to love the fireworks, until I moved to Tampa.  Here, every year, we get these afternoon storms that leave all kinds of clouds after they’ve passed through.  They still do the fireworks, but unless you’re like right under them, you can’t ever see them.  I’m not kidding, this has happened every year since I moved down here.

There’s just something about the summer weather pattern that  doesn’t go well with the July 4th holiday here. Hopefully, whereever you’re at, you get a better view of the fireworks than I do.

When I still lived in Ohio, we used to spend July 4th down at Lake Cumberland, in Kentucky, every year.  Have you ever been?  It’s a big beautiful lake, surrounded by forest and hills.  The scenery is just incredible there.  It was always a nice place to go and get away from things.  The Tampa area also has beatiful scenery, but it’s not the same.

So what are your plans for the Holiday? Relaxing, and spending time with the family?  Going on any picnics, or maybe to a cookout?

Well, whatever you’re doing this year for the 4th of July, I hope you enjoy it!

    1. Hi Susan,
You’re right, unfortunately. The fireworks getting cut short this year was a definite bummer. But par for the course living in Florida. The summer rain is as unpredictable as it is predictable. If that makes sense, Lol. Thanks so much for being such a great follower of WorkingMomX! We love readers like you!
